XT Series Heavy Duty Overhead Chain Conveyor

XT series heavy-duty overhead conveyors are widely adopted among conventional overhead conveyor systems. Featuring a high degree of mechanization and automation, they are primarily applied to production processes with numerous connecting working procedures, short tact times and relatively stable processing methods.

The conveyor boasts excellent spatial adaptability, enabling arbitrary rotation in both the horizontal and vertical planes. With a well-designed routing layout tailored to process requirements, it can travel over long distances, bypass obstacles, and transport workpieces to designated locations along predefined paths for material handling. It connects separate, individual specialised production stations into an automated assembly line, lifting productivity, improving product quality and strengthening production management.

Additionally, the system can continuously carry workpieces through high-temperature ovens, toxic gas zones, powder coating booths, pre-dip painting pretreatment zones, freezing chambers and other hazardous areas to complete manufacturing operations difficult for manual labor. This greatly improves working conditions for operators.

Moreover, the XT series features low power consumption, low noise, stable operation, simple operation and safe usage.

Flexible Routing Across the Entire Plant

Because the chain pivots freely in both the horizontal and vertical planes, the overhead conveyor is not tied to a single straight run. It can climb, descend, turn and loop back on itself, which means the track can be routed around pillars, ducts, cranes and other fixed obstructions instead of forcing the layout to fit the building.

The practical benefit is a conveying system that links isolated workstations into one continuous automated line. Workpieces arrive at the right station at the right moment, manual transfer between departments is eliminated, and the whole production flow becomes easier to schedule and control.

System Composition

1. Traction Chain - XT Forged Chain

The die-forged chain is the traction element that drives the entire overhead conveyor. For the XT80 / XT76.2 and XT100 models, two chain variants are offered, and both can pivot freely in the horizontal and vertical planes - the property that lets the overhead conveyor follow tight two-plane curves without dedicated corner units.

2. Carrier Trolley

Each trolley runs inside the track and carries the workpiece, the spreader and the chain. It supports the vertical load, absorbs the resultant force produced by chain tension inside every vertical bend, and keeps the chain on the designed track line. Where the distance between two loaded carriages exceeds roughly 800–900 mm, an additional load carriage can be inserted in the intermediate space to raise the carrying density of the overhead conveyor.

3. Track & Temperature Expansion Rail

The track is built from ordinary I-beam sections and carries the trolley and chain above the working area. Where the overhead conveyor route crosses a hot zone such as a baking or curing oven, temperature expansion joints must be fitted at both ends of that section: one end is welded firmly to the track, the other is a sliding sleeve that mates with the adjacent rail. The defined clearance between the two rails absorbs thermal deformation, protects the track system and keeps the overhead conveyor running smoothly.

For continuous operation through ovens, freezing chambers and other thermally active zones, expansion rails are essential. One end is welded to the track and the other forms a sliding sleeve that interfaces with the next rail; an appropriate clearance is kept between the two rails so that thermal expansion and contraction are compensated, preventing track damage and ensuring smooth movement of the overhead conveyor.

Application Fields

Continuous running through hostile zones is what separates the XT overhead conveyor from simple conveying equipment. Typical working environments include:

  • High-temperature baking, curing and drying ovens
  • Toxic gas, fume and vapour zones that must stay sealed off from operators
  • Powder coating booths and spray areas
  • Pre-dip painting and surface pretreatment lines
  • Freezing chambers, chill rooms and cold stores
  • Multi-station assembly lines linking welding, coating, drying and packing

In each case the overhead conveyor takes over work that is difficult, unhealthy or unsafe for manual labor, which improves working conditions for operators as well as consistency of output.

Options & Tailoring

  • Model - XT80 / XT76.2, XT100 or XT160, selected from load, line length and curve count
  • Track layout - horizontal curves, vertical bends, inclines, multi-level loops and obstacle bypass
  • Speed - five predefined speed steps per model, or a variable-frequency drive for adjustable output
  • Drive arrangement - drive and chain take-up positions adapted to the line route
  • Carriers - hangers, spreaders and fixtures designed around your workpiece
  • Heat-resistant build - expansion joints and suitable materials for oven and cold-store sections

Quality, Service & Support

Chains and trolleys are die-forged and heat treated, then checked for pitch accuracy, hardness and breaking load before assembly. The whole production process is run under the ISO 9001 quality management system, and non-standard configurations are engineered to order when a standard model does not fit the process.

Buyers receive layout and installation drawings, engineering support during the project and after-sales service once the overhead conveyor is in operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What distinguishes the XT series from a conventional overhead conveyor system?

The XT series combines a die-forged chain, free rotation in two planes and a modular I-beam track, so it can follow complex three-dimensional routes while carrying heavy loads through hostile environments - a level of flexibility that conventional overhead conveyors rarely offer.

Q2. Why does mechanization and automation matter for this type of line?

Processes with many connecting working procedures and short tact times depend on steady, repeatable transfer between stations. An automated overhead conveyor removes manual handling at each changeover, which lifts productivity, improves product quality consistency and makes production management simpler.

Q3. Can the conveyor pass through ovens, paint booths and freezing chambers?

Yes. Continuous passage through high-temperature ovens, powder coating booths, pre-dip painting pretreatment zones, toxic gas areas and freezing chambers is one of the main reasons buyers choose this overhead conveyor. Temperature expansion rails are fitted wherever the track crosses a thermally active section.

Q4. How does the routing handle obstacles and long distances?

Because the chain rotates freely in the horizontal and vertical planes, the track can climb, descend and turn to bypass columns, ducts and other fixed equipment, and it can run over long distances to deliver workpieces to designated points along a predefined path.

Q5. Which models are available and what are their chain pitches?

Three models are offered: XT80 / XT76.2, XT100 and XT160, with chain reference pitches of 80 / 76.2 mm, 100 mm and 160 mm respectively.

Q6. What is the single-point lifting capacity of each model?

Single-point lifting capacity is 1.25 kN for the XT80 / XT76.2, 2.5 kN for the XT100 and 5 kN for the XT160. Allowable chain tension, breaking force and track weight for each model are listed in the technical parameter tables above.

Q7. How many speed steps can the overhead conveyor run at?

Five speed steps are available for each model - for example 0.12~1.2, 0.21~2.1, 0.33~3.3, 0.48~4.8 and 0.83~8.3 m/min for the XT80 / XT76.2. A variable-frequency drive can be supplied where finer speed control is needed.

Q8. What is the working temperature range?

The standard configuration is rated from -20 °C to 200 °C. Where the route crosses a hot oven section, temperature expansion rails are installed at both ends so the track can expand and contract safely.

Q9. How much power does the conveyor require?

Conveyor power ranges from 1.1~2.2 kW for the XT80 / XT76.2 and 1.5~2.2 kW for the XT100, up to 2.2~4 kW for the XT160. Power consumption stays low because the chain runs on a low-friction track and the drive is matched to the actual line load.

Q10. Is the trolley able to rotate in both planes?

Yes. The chain and trolley articulate freely in the horizontal and vertical planes, which is what allows the overhead conveyor to negotiate combined curves and inclines without additional corner mechanisms.

Q11. What is involved in installing and maintaining the track?

The track is supported from the building structure with standard brackets and hangers, and layout drawings plus installation guidance are provided. Maintenance is light: periodic chain lubrication, trolley wheel inspection and routine checks on the drive unit are normally sufficient.

Q12. How do I request a proposal and quotation?

Send us your maximum load, required line length, layout sketch, working environment (including any hot or cold zones) and target speed. Our engineers will propose the right XT model and prepare a quotation for your overhead conveyor project.
